News: Jan. 24th 2012

It's a new year. So they say. No, it will be a degraded copy of the previous year. Not new. Different. But the same.

But, yes, apparently the C.I.P. release (listed below) has recieved a review in the glossy artmusicnoisetechnojazzrockhop magazine "The Wire", to be specific, the February 2012/# 336 issue. Yes, a review of animalmineralselfmirror, with, yes, a photo of the artist on the review section page:Well, this could be that photo.

A positive review, thumbs up, that sort of thing.

Anyway, watch for this issue.

Here's what Mr. Edwards of Vertonen fame and CIP CEO sez:

I first heard Lunde’s work in perhaps 1991; I was a DJ at KUCR at the University of California, doing a program that danced between punk and experimental music. I had heard of Hands To, and when I saw the Hands To / Eric Lunde split in the new bin, I gave it a whirl. As others have rightfully said before, when Lunde’s voice comes in--"your unguarded breath" it was a moment of commanding, spine tingling confusion. His work reminds me of Z'EV's uns project in how he permutates language and utilizes his "reduplicative strategies" to simultaneously bury and uncover audio. This disc is, for these ears, "classic" Lunde; tape cassette manipulation, modulation, and endless reduplications and permutations. If you like Lunde, this will be a welcome chapter in his ongoing audio explorations. If you aren't familiar with Lunde, I'd say imagine audio that has spices of Chop Shop, EVP, and John Duncan mixed into a batter of barren lands and be prepared to go on a rather unusual, and unequivocally individual, journey.

Now, 10 years later, I returned to that work and re-visited the events and conditions that have transpired in the interim years."

Sure, you can do electronic work, but what does it take to restrain oneself to specific (albeit flexible) time parameters?  These are 61 one minute (give or take a few seconds) of pure electronic “compositions” that vary in instrumentation between analog and digital, midi and CV. Some consider the instrument singularly (Archer’s MK-1 analog drum machine, Dwarfcraft’s analog “Thumping Double Squaresnakes”, Roland Sh-101) or as an ensemble with other components (Roland MC-303, Moog “slimPhatty”, etc.).
